Just an update on current poetry projects,

Good news my second poetry sequence Avalon http://avalonpoetrybook.webs.com is out and has already sold well into three figures, which took me back a bit, who said poetry is dead, thanks to all

Avalon is a eleven poem sequence, detailing visions of apocalyptic future, and am so pleased people are enjoying it.

Also my first sequence The Modern Orpheus salews have improved, I have now set up website for each sequence http://themodernorpheus.webs.com I am planning to release one more sequence called ‘Scenes from the big society’ a sequence of sixteen poems, due sometime this year.

Take a peek at http://thbigsociety.webs.com I am then hoping to approach a reputable publisher for my selected poems The blood leaf poems.

Another project is being the poetry editor at MP magazine, I am afraid that due to a lot of these projects that i will have to shut the blog for a time.

Thought i would let you know the recent news and updates, I have now decided to release all three poem book sequences through Amazon, as i seem to be reaching a wider audience that way.

The first sequence being ‘The Modern Orpheus, the second which has been out now for nearly a week ’Avalon’ is doing really well, and finally the third which is pretty much finished ’Scenes from The Big Society’, to be released sometime this year.

I am waiting to see how the three sequences are recieved by people, before hopefully approaching a publisher for my selected poems’THE BLOOD LEAF’ of which none of the poems above appear, yet a lot of them have already been published in poetry magazines over the last five or so years.

I am also working on ‘Poems from the Frome’, a selection of poems about local life, Frome valley etc. I have had to put a hold on the children’s book for now but will return to it soon, I still have more writing projects to put together yet.

as ice covers the land like a new heaven,

stale darkness falls on failing earth.

On gritted pavements one thousand stars shine

ice-age pausing man’s infernal machine,

in the dark macabre rooms of winter

humility breathes life into man.

Children stomp on cracked ice puddles

ribbons from the old year shed the new,

on hovering trees snow-flakes melt

falling down like frozen white acorns.

Atlas of footprints mapped into the ice

shudders the breeze like a ghost in transit

a new moon fills this void landscape

as lost blue shadows among deaths unwanted.

Frosted inertia surrounds the meadow

on a surface of perfect white,

a lone daffodil towers in untouched snow

like the remnants of rising spring.

In the waiting room of the disingenuous

I sat watching the usual suspects perform,

a well mannered gent with misogynist tendencies

and a man that whispers the alphabet to himself.

I once sat here on Saturday afternoon

and watched the matinee as a child,

now I’m watching the cartoons at the bar

slurring words with unfashionable expletives.

In these dank rooms of candle-light

you hear the rattle-bags in the foyer,

the thieves of memory steal an hour or two

a blemish of lipstick on dirty glass.

and unfolded his sparkling gold and red,

with tears like moving darkness from the sun

praying to the God in his head.

Wping the sorrow from his cheek

entering an arena of clapping hands,

beast is released for his final stampede

where bull blood glistens in yellow sand.

In circles of boarded alabaster

the damp towels are drawn and worn,

crowd gathers in glorious red and amber

where a man stands humbled and torn.

where cobwebs hang from oak like whitened tadpoles,

in battle prayer at alters of the host

a crescendo of a songs immortal soul.

In contemplative libations

to a heartless God with the favoured snout,

deaths visitor had taken loves creation

as he sat down and cleansed his weeping pout.

Inhaling the beat of wildlife and woodland

relinquishing his meditive essence,

through the town of chrome and city of sand

to reach the cruel land of a Gods presence.

and the cruel waves clawed at dead rotten oak,

while man’s sorrows swept the damp earth untamed.

This gushing nemesis spreads earth and flames

spitting out ships where cities float,

I saw the televised trail of the maimed

the wild seas immersing prayer and lost hope,

Shoreline roof like a carriage from a train

harboured to the sea purse of sinking boats,

I remember the day when the sea changed.

The ocean’s voice lightened the curdled rain

where the dead whispers from the wind soak,

while man’s sorrows swept the damp earth untamed.

Nature’s waters had left this world unnamed

where the root of prosperous earth choked,

on tables of spilt Rioja,

down a slim lane of golden Roman walls

to a hidden square in Seville.

I walked through the busy cross roads

and saw rum eyes dressed in fine suits of white,

the clear shine of waxed horses hair

reflects from a cathedral built so high.

On a forecourt of gothic stone

I gazed up into this giant angel’s arms,

her gentle breeze easing me to the door

to see such glorious beauty.

To see Dancart’s carved scenes of gold

shaded like dimly lite butter,

and to touch the tomb of Columbus

with its grey charcoal colouring.

I had stepped into the eyes of Seville

and then saw its essence from a tower,

tasting the air from an angel’s lantern

to a gallery of vision on canvas.

I stare deep into the polluted moon

where stars shine and satellites blink

under a vale of velvet blood.

I can hear the veering sick winds

as I watch this alien sky above,

like panting grey tombs in a cloudy gloss

spiralling between gaps of the purest white.

On horizons of windows dimmed

bellowing notes of jazz parades,

splicing the decay in worn shades of moon

a curse in times mortal playground.

As my eyes tire from the moons beaten face

I sleep with the star of my ghost,

peering at me as I fall into dream

reassuring me that the gentle earth still breathes.
